In the Journey of an artist you walk around in a gray world where you need to get through. To do this you need to direct the lights to open a more colorfull creative world. by doing this you clear the path or create platforms to continue on your path.
This is a school project we had to make at Breda University of Applied Sciences.
For this project I mainly worked on the mesh deformation and the collision of it. We wanted the mesh to change according to the light triangle. Because the platformer is 2D I only checked the vertices in 2 axis. After checking which vertices are in the cone the new mesh is created and when possible the holes in the mesh get filled. The mesh deformation works for only taking that certain part of the mesh or cutting a piece out of it like the image above.
The image below is one of the first version which only would remove or add the vertices inside the cone this was later changed to a triangle and optimized for meshes with more vertices.
